It has been brought to my attention that there is not much personal information about me on the website. I thought I would get a little more personable and introduce you to the owner and designer of Eldorado Outdoor Lighting LLC. Below is a little about me, my education, accreditation and lighting styles. Please enjoy!
My name is Marc Haile and I am the creator of Eldorado Outdoor Lighting. Like many small business owners, I am a jack of all trades. Some of my duties include accountant, marketer, salesman, and project foreman, but the job I enjoy most is that of designing all of the lighting systems. The creativity, challenge and seeing the look on my client's faces when they see their installed system is a very enjoyable aspect of design.
I grew up in a small farming and ranching community in the Texas panhandle where me and my brothers mowed yards to make extra money. I suppose it was this job that introduced me to the landscaping world. After a little while in the construction industry, I decided I wanted to move in to a more design oriented field. On a renovation project I was working on, I thought it would be nice to add some sort of outdoor lighting. I started doing research on what was available, and my career in landscape lighting was born.

I have a degree in economics from Texas A&M University in College Station, where I graduated in 2008. in 2018 I attended the International Landscape Lighting Institute's (ILLI) intensive course which was held at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. I am an ongoing member of that organization as well as a member of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP). I try and take as many opportunities as I can to further my education in landscape lighting as well as research new technology, new lighting fixtures and fixture manufacturers, and new methods of install.

I would describe my lighting design style as thoughtful. I usually like to take time and think about a project, for sometimes several days to decide what would be the best effect. Figuring out what viewpoints will be utilized the most, what subject matter will be a focal point, differing light levels and how they relate to the subject matter, and glare reduction are all part of my design process to name a few. I also believe that in any type of design there are trends that come and go. I try to balance new trends with classic design so systems that look good now will look just as good several years down the road. On the other hand, I do try and match the look and feel of the residence I am working on. If it is a modern home, I try and cater to that style. If it is more traditional, I will go with a more traditional look in both design and fixture selection. I also enjoy utilizing the different types of fixtures that are available to me. While some designers use one design style and one brand of fixture for every project, I believe my strong suit is knowing what materials and techniques exist, and being able to source those things in order to achieve a custom lighting design for the project. One project may incorporate a dozen different fixture types, all from different brands of fixture companies.
I am excited for the new opportunities that the future holds. I will be discussing some of these opportunities in future posts including some new offerings coming from us for 2020. I still find landscape lighting to be the most enjoyable venture I have been apart of, and as long as I continue to feel that way, I will continue to pursue this landscape lighting career. I intend to be here a long long time.
If you would like to know more about me, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I believe that the best thing someone can do when considering landscape lighting is finding a designer who connects with them and understands their vision. I would be happy to discuss your vision and goals for your property.
